The Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) seeks an enterprising, highly professional, and outgoing Donor Relations Specialist to implement, grow, and evolve an effective mid-level donor program. Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts, this role is essential to the growth of the Institute's base of supporters, developing and implementing strategies that inspire donors below the $5,000 level to grow their support for IHS. Responsibilities: Partner with the donor marketing and prospecting team to maintain and grow a healthy pipeline of individual supporters. Implement and manage a strategy and process to cultivate first-time donors into long-term supporters of the Institute. Key performance metrics include increasing retention rates and giving levels. Work with the CRM and operations teams to integrate with existing technology and systems and ensure data integrity and accuracy. Conduct donor research of that pipeline to proactively identify individual donors with major giving potential (capable of $5k+ gifts). In partnership with the Director of Major Gifts, develop, manage, and execute individual stewardship plans for major gifts prospects. Personally cultivate long-term relationships with a portfolio of major donor prospects through personal phone calls, emails, stewardship pieces, etc. Qualifications: A passion for the vision and work of IHS. An ability to communicate that passion in a way that inspires and connects with donors' respective philanthropic goals. Demonstrated experience building external relationships through superior written and interpersonal communication, keen attention to the donor or customer experience, and a high degree of professionalism and discretion. Experience developing and implementing processes, with strong attention to detail, ability to self-direct, and strong follow-through. Proven capability to drive a technology-savvy and data-driven approach, with experience setting and tracking key performance metrics within a CRM system. Salesforce experience highly preferred. Strong desire to learn and develop fundraising skills and knowledge.
