Job Description:

Amazon Studios is seeking a Production Manager to support Scripted TV Series projects to be produced both in the United States and worldwide.

The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing the budgets, schedules, and overall production plans for a variety of projects. The position will work closely with internal partners, including Post-Production, Business Affairs, and Creative Development teams. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee projects in development and production for scripted US content

• Collaborate with show producers, line producers, production managers and creative executives and offer assessments on budgets, production plans, and schedules. Includes flagging risks and/or presenting options that result in staying on budget and schedule.

• Work with internal teams, including post operations and development, to develop budgets and schedules.

• Travel to set if necessary to evaluate work-flow, budgets and potential problems.

• Analyze budgets and cost reports.

• Act as liaison from producers to Head of Production.

The US Scripted Series Production department is a fast moving, solution-oriented group. The team oversees the production and delivery of Amazon Studios premium series content, including The Boys, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Lord of the Rings.

Typical Day in the Role:

The Production Manager will assume responsibility of several shows at various stages (Dev, Prod, Post/Delivery). An enthusiastic, team-oriented approach is essential. The position requires the ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at the studio and show level.

The Production Manager should be based in/around Los Angeles, and will be expected to work in-office at Amazon Studios Culver City 2-3 days / week. Opportunity exists for extension/conversion to full-time employment upon completion of the initial 11-month term.

The role will be to initially support team members covering productions and, once familiar with Amazon process, eventually take on projects unilaterally.

The team is a highly motivated, proud and close unit with varying levels of experience who work independently but who also freely and openly consult and team with other executives. The team is diverse, progressive and are excellent communicators. We are working in office 2 days a week and will move to 3 days in May, and though there will be some flexibility, this will not be an all-remote role. Amazon currently has a hiring freeze but based on performance this temp role could potentially convert to a permanent role depending on the freeze ending and headcount increasing.

Candidate Requirements:

Candidate must have 4+ years of production management experience and have on-set experience as well. Candidate should also have experience in medium to higher budget TV shows ($4 to 10+M per episode), but a combination of film and TV experience is acceptable. We are looking for a candidate passionate about TV and TV production and the ambition to grow in their role. Calm under pressure and confidence are a must and interpersonal skills are highly valued in this role; we work across many departments and need to earn trust with all of them. We seek collaborators, not empire builders.
