TITLE:Assistant High School Principal


POSITION REQUISITES:1.A valid high school principal's certificate
2.Skill in interpersonal relations
3.Skill in problem-solving
4.Ability to research (gather data) and apply the research
(data) to the pertinent areas and/or personnel of the high school programs


POSITION PURPOSE:To assist the high school principal in the day-to-day administration of the high school and to assume other administrative duties as may be given by the high school principal or local superintendent.


PERFORMANCE DUTIES:
1.In the absence of the high school principal assumes fully all duties and responsibilities of the high school principal
2.Assists in the supervision, as directed by the high school principal, of all certified and non-certificated personnel within the high school building
3.Assists in the evaluation, as directed by the high school principal, of teachers and/or non-certificated employees according to the policy(ies) established by the East Guernsey Board of Education
4.Assists, as directed by the high school principal, in contacting, assigning and/or supervising of substitute teachers and/or non-certificated substitutes
5.Assists, as directed by the high school principal, in the recruiting, screening and/or selection of new employees
6.Assists, as directed by the high school principal, in the planning, development and or implementation of in-service and/or orientation meetings
7.Assists, as directed by the high school principal, in informing the faculty and staff of their individual and collective duties and responsibilities, of Board or administrative policies, of new materials or methods and participates in the development of curriculum
8.Assists, as directed by the high school principal, in promoting cooperative employee relationships
9.Assists, as directed by the high school principal, in developing and maintaining a positive teaching, learning
and working atmosphere
10.Assists the guidance counselor, as directed by the high school principal, in the scheduling and student-placement process
11.Counsels students academically, behaviorally and socially as the needs arise
12.Keeps accurate student attendance records
13.Informs parents/guardians of student attendance/absence
14.Counsels and/or disciplines chronic absentees
15.Disciplines all day-to-day student misbehaviors
16.Works cooperatively with the courts and other support agencies and groups as necessary to help students
17.Assists in promoting a positive public image of the high school, its students and its employees, as well as that

18.Performs other duties as assigned by the high school principal and/or the local superintendent


POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:
1.Is under the general direction and assignment of the high school principal
2.Assists, as directed by the high school principal, in the positive development of the high school staff, certified and
non-certificated
3.Assists, as directed by the high school principal, in the responsibilities for all students in the high school at
anytime


TERMS OF POSITION EMPLOYMENT:
1.The appropriate administrator's contract
2.Salary and work year in accordance with the Board adopted assistant high school principal's salary and work year provisions
3.The performance of the role of assistant high school principal will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board of Education policy on the Evaluation of Administrative Personnel
