Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is hiring a Senior Electrical System Design Engineer to join the Vehicle Management System (VMS) team located in the St. Louis, MO region.

We are seeking a highly motivated engineer to support the design, development, integration, and certification of the next-generation (VMS) for TACAIR Programs. The selected candidate will work on an exciting proprietary program that is growing rapidly. You will have the opportunity to be involved from the beginning of the design cycle and personally contribute to the development of a next-generation platform in the form of state of the art VMS development, performance testing, analysis and simulations. In addition, there will be visibility across the Boeing enterprise into modern VMS development methods.

You will collaborate with our hardware, software, and labs teams to implement and test your designs. Mechanical, Electrical, Aerodynamics, and other engineers are all welcome – to succeed in this role, you will need to leverage your area of expertise and quickly learn on the job about other areas to develop capabilities for our Vehicle Management System Computer and interfacing systems. You will get to see tangible results of your efforts as you contribute to exciting aircraft development programs in St. Louis.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads technical support efforts of the VMS Integrated Product Team (IPT), which includes hardware, requirements, software, and labs teams.

  • Support VMS hardware and software development processes.

  • Leads efforts to ensure that the VMS architecture, hardware, and software meet requirements.

  • Coordinate VMS design, architecture, and logical interfaces with other IPTs.

  • Leads development of integrated test plans

  • Leads efforts to ensure that analysis and testing satisfies certification requirements.

  • Leads the overall VMS certification process with other IPTs and certification authorities.

  • Provide oversight to supplier development, test, and integration activities

  • Researches specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs.

  • Provides mentoring and career guidance to early career engineers

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Bachelors, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

  • 7+ years of experience in an engineering role

  • 1+ year of experience with Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design

  • 1+ year of experience working on technical projects conducting requirements development, verification, test, and/or troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with design and analysis of basic Electronic/Electrical Systems

  • Experience in hardware and software integration

  • Knowledge of typical Vehicle Management Systems architecture and hardware configurations

  • Experience with mentoring early career engineers

  • Experience with technical interactions with suppliers

  • Active U.S. Security Clearance

Typical Education:

Typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
