Job Description

  • The Chemist I position is responsible for routine testing of raw materials, finished products, and stability.
  • samples utilizing current Compendia, cGMPs, cGLPs, SOPs. Position supports other departments for
  • special projects as needed. Position performs other laboratory duties as directed.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs physical testing and chemical testing of incoming raw materials, finished product,
  • and stability samples utilizing instrumentation such as disintegration, dissolution, Auto-
  • titration, and UV-VIS.
  • Conducts release testing on raw materials, finished product, and stability samples following.
  • cGMPs, cGLPs, Compendia, and SOPs.
  • Knowledge of Auto titration with experience using applicable software.
  • Knowledge of Dissolution, Karl Fisher, FT-IR, and UV/VIS.
  • Performs general lab duties as assigned, for example: replenish test reagents, clean lab,
  • wash glassware.
  • Prepares standards and reagents necessary to complete required testing.
  • Performs routine instrument maintenance checks/calibration verifications according to the SOP.
  • Gathers, reviews, and reports analytical results. Compares to relevant specifications to determine quality status.
  • Familiarity with out of specification (OOS) / out of trend (OOT) processes per cGMP.
  • Initiates out of specification (OOS) investigations when applicable.
  • Cleans assigned areas of the lab and maintains an audit ready status.
  • Assist with training new employees when necessary.
  • Cross train and assist in other areas to support business needs.
  • May assist in completing SOP reviews and updates.
  • Responsible for maintaining a neat, clean and safe working environment at all times and
  • notifies supervisor immediately of any safety concerns, accidents or injuries that are observed.
  • Understands and adheres to all Company policies, procedures, SOPs and Safety regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/ Qualifications:

  • BS in Chemistry or BS in Biology
  • A minimum of 1 year (Preferred: 2 years) of related analytical laboratory experience
  • (academic or professional).
  • Must have good scientific, conceptual, and analytical techniques.
  • Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of general wet chemistry procedures.
  • Must have knowledge of how to work safely with and around chemicals and their potential hazards.
  • Ability to use effective and professional verbal / written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Previous experience operating FTIR, UV/VIS, and pH meter preferred.
  • Must be able to support overtime work as required.
  • Ability to perform and accurately document all activities according to cGMP requirements.
  • Ability to learn new analytical tests, instrumentation, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to report accurate and precise results in a timely manner.
  • Ability to adhere to company policies.
  • Models and supports organizational goals and values.
  • Must pass background and drug screen

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $25.00 per hour
