The Opportunity:

Ensemble Health Partners is looking for a Supervisor, Clinical Documentation. This resource will oversees Clinical Documentation processes/procedures; monitors and maintains the timeliness of workflow, productivity, and quality of all Clinical Documentation program; develops and monitors implementation of site departmental goals/objectives and supports the performance improvement process in conjunction with the Clinical Documentation Manager.

Essential Functions:
  • Ensures competency of Clinical Documentation Specialist staff by conducting on-going reviews and skills assessments; provides action plans and timely constructive feedback, as needed, to enhance staff development; leads hiring, training and performance management processes for all site-based CDE employees; coaches, mentors and empowers employees to complete tasks by providing information and support. Assists in the development of policies and procedures for the Clinical Documentation Excellence program.
  • Develops/utilizes educational programs to keep CDSs/physicians/service lines/advisor up to date on regulatory changes and/or identified gaps pertaining to specified dx, topics, DRGs, and denials
  • Acts as a direct contact for the Physician Documentation Improvement designee (physician advisor) and site administration.
  • Develops ongoing documentation improvement education programs based on regulatory changes or updates and internal quality audits for site CDS.
  • Partners with coding leadership related to accuracy of final DRG assignments. Assists in reviewing DRG denial letters and appeal writing.
  • Maintains time and attendance logs, approves PTO, orders supply and troubleshoots technical issues as needed. Acts as a contact in the absence of the Clinical Documentation Manager
  • Other assigned duties


Qualifications:
  • At least five years of nursing experience in either Med/Surg, Intensive Care, or Emergency Department
  • At least one year of experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist; self-motivated, strong organizational skills, excellent speaking and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to update technical expertise and to develop management/leadership skills through continuing education throughout tenure in position; willingness to travel within the market


Licensure/Certification:
  • Current RN license in the state of Ohio/Kentucky where applicable
  • current CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist) certification or willingness to obtain certification within one year of role acceptance.


Education:
  • Associates Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred
