Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Conforms to clinic protocols while preparing examination and treatment areas.
  • In compliance with predetermined Scope of Responsibilities, all necessary aspects of rooming patients are performed during the procedure, including measuring vital signs and collecting relevant data.
  • Thoroughly delivers and documents individualized dose drugs and inoculations as per clinic guidelines, following successful training and demonstrating proficiency.
  • Carries out electrocardiograms and diagnostic testing in adherence with the clinic's CLIA accreditation, demonstrating proficiency after receiving adequate training.
  • Ensures that all patient records are accurately and concisely documented in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Carries out all designated paperwork duties and ad hoc supply management/procurement as directed.
  • Provides support in organizing any necessary follow-up care or appointments as prescribed.
  • Dispenses standardized patient education materials that have been pre-reviewed or pre-authorized. Advises patients to take any queries they may have to RNs or providers.
  • Adherence to Federal and State Regulations- As a healthcare provider, it's essential that Monument Health adhere to all federal and state regulations to maintain their credibility and reputation in the industry.
  • Supplementary duties as assigned by superiors.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies; Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant University or accredited training facility

Certification - **Medical Assistant-Certified (MA) within 6 months of hire; Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Professional Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) within 60 days of hire

** Any Medical Assistant hired and employed with MH before July 1, 2021 has until Jan 1, 2022 to be certified as a Medical Assistant. Any Medical Assistant hired and starting employment after July 1, 2021 obtain certification with 6 months of hire.

Preferred:

Experience - 1+ years of Clinical Experience; 1+ years of Healthcare Experience

Physical Requirements:

Heavy work - exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or up to 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or up to 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and or up to 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
