Summary. This role involves understanding the products produced, addressing customer concerns, and making recommendations for new product development. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in our R&D department by performing laboratory processes of interesterification, bleaching and deodorization. This role involves understanding the products produced, addressing customer concerns, and making recommendations for new product development. In addition, the R&D Scientist will collaborate with our plant operations team to enhance and optimize existing processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Utilize laboratory processing equipment for interesterification, bleaching, and deodorization to determine plant parameters as well as sample preparation.
Gain a deep understanding of the vegetable products produced in the facility.
Collaborate with customers to address inquiries and concerns related to our products.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to assist in resolving customer issues.
Propose and develop new products to meet customer requirements.
Work closely with the plant operations team to identify areas for process optimization and efficiency improvement.
Implement changes and improvements to enhance the production process.
Conduct research to stay updated on the industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovations in vegetable oil production.
Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop and test new product formulations.
Maintain comprehensive records of all experiment’s tests and results.
Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
optimally and coordinate maintenance schedules.
Provide technical expertise and training to production staff to ensure consistent adherence to process guidelines.
Participate in cross-functional teams for new project implementation, process modifications, and facility expansions.
Attending annual industry meetings (AOCS, IFT, PMCA).

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Proven experience of 5 plus years in an R&D, Process Engineer or related field.
Knowledge of the testing methods of fats & oils is highly desired.
Strong understanding of food processing technologies, equipment, and industry best practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically under pressure.
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams and convey technical information.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision correctable to read computer screen, lab equipment controls, and industry manuals.
