Job Responsibilities:

  • Ascertain if the specimens are of sufficient quality to be tested in accordance with the established protocols
  • Execute technical procedures and functions while adhering to the guidelines established by the department's Standard Operating Procedures
  • The proper management, analysis, and resolution of any instrument-related setbacks can result in the consistent functioning of the machinery
  • Testing teams must possess strong technical decision-making capabilities when it comes to problem-solving and testing.
  • The formulation, experimentation, and evaluation of new reagents or controls are crucial components of scientific discoveries that can have significant impacts on society and healthcare
  • Ensuring that patients receive top-quality care involves reporting accurate and timely test outcomes
  • Quality control measures can include conducting product tests, monitoring customer satisfaction, and ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards. These procedures help organizations to identify areas for improvement and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Check and renew the testing bench consumables and equipment regularly
  • Provide aid in specimens processing as necessary
  • Stay safe at work by wearing protective gear and maintaining a secure environment

Requirements:

  • Attaining an associate degree or meeting the local regulatory requirements is mandatory for those aspiring to study Pathology Laboratory Technologist
  • Experience in laboratory settings is a significant advantage
  • The achievement of ASCP or AMT certification demonstrates a level of professionalism and dedication to the medical laboratory industry
  • Being competent in functioning solo as well as in a team environment
  • Knowledgeable about computers and their usage; having acquaintance with laboratory information systems is a desirable quality
