Job Summary

The Associate Inside Sales Account Manager invests in the future of Southwest's People by producing qualified prospects through a variety of sources including, but not limited to, tradeshows, ongoing market campaigns, prospect database, specified markets, and inbound calls. This role works to maximize the value of Cargo and Charters for Southwest through strategy, technology, research, implementation, data, and engagement activities. The Associate Inside Sales Account Manager is an effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills who looks forward to supporting impactful initiatives that drive the future of Southwest.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work at a Company facility at least three days a week. The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.

Responsibilities
Generate account leads and develop business relationships by making daily outbound calls to prospects and existing customers to communicate the strengths and competitive advantages of Southwest Cargo services and how the application of these can assist the Customer in meeting their objectives
Understand Customer needs, objectives, and goals by utilizing extensive business databases, directories, industry websites, and other sources
Maintain a thorough knowledge of Customer needs such as transit time, special handling, rate, etc. to support assigned territories
Create thorough pre-call plans by reviewing sales history, data reports, previous call notes, etc. to determine the most productive course of action
Contact Customers who have been identified as inactive using approved sales tactics and strategies to retain potential business
Compile reports utilizing various systems to monitor sales performance, evaluate necessary business actions, forecast annual territory sales, report pertinent Customer data, gather, and report on market activity, and provide other data as requested by Leadership, ASMs, and/or other Stakeholders
Calculate cost estimates and spot rates by gathering Customer shipment specifications and logistics, reviewing pricing resources, and preparing rate proposals for internal approval to implement independent pricing, localized to specific conditions, and purchasing patterns
Record and manage Client history and records by documenting sales interactions, expenses, competitive activity, account changes, and events within the Company database to ensure all Customer information remains updated and accurate
Provide professional, competent, and timely response to all inbound calls/emails including but not limited to providing price quotes, accepting sales orders, and advising on regulatory information about shipments, etc. to ensure excellent Customer Service

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services including marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems
Strongly skilled in verbal and written communication
Strong persuasive interpersonal skills to gain acceptance of an idea, plan, or product
Skilled in understanding and applying information to contribute to the organization's strategic plan
Ability to teach, guide, and assist fellow Employees
Ability to listen to, understand, and communicate ideas presented in writing and/or in speaking with others
Ability to produce several ideas about a topic (the number of ideas is important, not their quality, correctness, or creativity)
Ability to remember information such as words, numbers, pictures, and procedures
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Entry-level experience; developing skills and knowledge in sales, customer service, or airline/cargo
Licensing/Certification
- N/A
Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space workstation/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $54,350 per year to $60,400 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
